Letters...we've got letters

With the onset of spring upon us, I decided it was time to change up the mantel a little bit. I was inspired by a crochet pattern book I saw at the craft store a few weeks ago. They featured big alphabet letters wrapped in a nubby, off-white yarn. It looked nice and cozy! I would have snapped up the supplies for that right away, except that I'm not feelin' so "off-white and nubby" these days with the grass greening up a bit and bulbs poking out.

So, I decided to tweak the idea a bit to use alphabet letters and twine. I think this might be something that can ride on through the summer. I used these letters. They were $1 apiece:


Using a glue gun, I attached the twine and started wrapping. You have to be a little careful going around the curves so the twine doesn't bunch too much on the inside of the curves.



J and C were pretty easy.....F was not bad and A was a real you-know-what! However, it only took about 5-10 minutes for each one and it was pretty cheap!


Next up....we've got letters.....on the mantel.

    They look adorable! So creative. I'm sure they are your family's initials, but I was seriously trying to spell a word with them. No luck. :P

    Lol...yes, they are initials! I never thought of trying to spell a word with them. :)

    Thanks for stopping by my blog! These letters are great! Totally will be adding this to my list of things to do :)

    You asked how long it took to paint my stairs -
    I worked on them for about 4 hours every day for almost a week. Bleh. But, TOTALLY worth it. I will admit I was really lazy by the time I got to the stairs and only sanded the hand railing. The white portion was primed and then had two coats of paint. The hand rail was sanded, had two coats of gel stain, and one coat of poly. It was a long process, but made a huge difference.
